Just a couple weeks removed from his latest studio album Sunburn, Dominic Fike is already on the road for his international Don’t Stare At The Sun Tour. On Tuesday night (August 1), he visited Houston, Texas, for the tour’s 12th show, just one day after the passing of actor Angus Cloud, who Fike co-starred with in the beloved HBO drama Euphoria.

Though Fike only participated in one of the show’s two seasons, he still held a close relationship with Cloud, who died at the age of 25. So, between songs in Houston, Fike paused the show, sat on his stool, and strummed his guitar while speaking candidly about how Cloud’s death affected him.

“I’ve been sulking all day, you know? I lost a friend of mine recently,” he told the crowd. “He died the other night, which is wild to say because I don’t deal with grief often. I haven’t had a lot of death happen around me, and this was the first time I felt like I knew the person well enough to cry over and feel something and it’s weird. I was on my way to get a massage which sounds so fucking stupid at the time and I got this call and it fucked me up. I didn’t get the massage, I would’ve felt really stupid. He probably would have been like, ‘Yeah go ahead.’ But, even this tonight, I was sitting in the green room and you know when things just feel trivial? You feel really small and the timeline gets stretched out.”

Additionally, Fike talked about how special of a person Cloud was, and how he radiated positive energy upon everyone he encountered.

“I sometimes look at people like sparks,” he added. “I zoom out and I think people have wavelengths. And if you zoom out far enough, maybe some people you’d see, probably not a lot of us, but if you zoomed out millions of miles you would see this kid’s spark. You would see it from so far away. Even if it was just a short flash. He would light up any room you walked in.”

Fike continued by saying he felt strange doing a concert while mourning, but eventually realized Cloud would have wanted him to go on with the show.

“He’s a fucking good dude,” he said. “I felt stupid coming out here. Like, this is so stupid, doing a show and being happy. But he would’ve wanted me to do that. He would’ve been like, ‘No, do the show, have fun.’ So that’s what we’re gonna do, we’re gonna have fun.”

Along with Fike, other Euphoria actors like Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney both posted heartfelt messages about Cloud on their social media pages. Although Cloud primarily served as an actor on television, he did dabble in work in the music industry, making appearances in music videos from Juice WRLD, Becky G, and Noah Cyrus.
